Life Safety Systems
A disabled refuge area is an area of a building which has been defined as being safe enough to act as a temporary holding area on occasions when the building has to be evacuated. The intention of areas of this kind is to provide a safe space in which those people who aren’t able to easily leave the building when they have to can call for assistance and wait for it to arrive.
Under current legislations, any building which has more than one floor has to provide a refuge area of this kind, and our disabled refuge systems provide 2 way communication to these areas. These systems can then be used by emergency services to establish which of the refuge areas are actually being used by people and, just as importantly, to reassure those people that they are coming to help and guide them safely from the building.
